Duty requires a young man to kill a dying prisoner.
Confederate soldiers near the end of the Civil War, watch a union camp holding a wounded comrade who
could 'give them away.' The sergeant fights off rebellion from his own men and orders a young soldier,
Deacon, to "take care of" the dying comrade. The man slips into the union camp and kills the dying soldier
before he can reveal the unit consists of disguised rebels. Forced to kill by duty, the man prays his choice will
not damn him. As he returns, Deacon avoids the Sergeant who cannot see the depth of the choice.
