Background includes - Writing background concepts, such as genre, active verbs, figurative language, connotation /denotation, active/passive voice. Creative Non-Fiction defined. Common themes include - embroidery, epiphany, connection, rituals, full circle, and quests.
Character includes - the development of round, flat, static, dynamic, static characters, and the authorial point of view. Character development exercise via revising an existing scene.
Dialogue includes - the basics of using dialogue. This entails direct dialogue, indirect dialogue, summary dialogue, monologues, and interior monologues.
MRUs are a structured method of developing the 'flow' of scenes as a function of exterior event, internal/ external dialogue, and character action. Plus more.

Story Process includes - pre-writing, drafting, critique, revision, and show/tell. The snowflake development of plot, theme, flashbacks, setting, and scene.
* If you have no computer or would like specific information printed, please let me know at the prior week's class or via email.
Beginnings includes - point of view, scenes, summaries, sensory words, strategies of writing and some good ideas for critiquing. Also, the computer offers us tools, often underused.
